1. Executive summary (short)
WRD-66 (the Cult of the Word) has produced an active temporal ontological anomaly centered on entity EDN-01 (“Eden/Elira”) and localized to an abandoned compound in the California desert. The locus is enclosed in a persistent temporal/ontological shroud that: (a) locks internal subjective time to Dec 25–31, 1999; (b) prevents standard sensor and physical entry from civilian or electronic approaches; and (c) exerts a measurable attractive vector at close range. The only confirmed extrication from the shroud is POI-AND (Father Andrew ██████), who has demonstrated spontaneous reappearance in 2025 after opaque intervals. All recovered media indicate Book-Miracle phenomena and ritualized Ascension attempts culminating in the Spiral event.
Operational posture: perimeter containment, analog monitoring, memetic quarantine. Research objective: characterize shroud mechanics, map leakage vectors (POI-AND), and develop controlled protocols to test loop disruption without precipitating catastrophic collapse.
2. Story beats — observational chronology (research summary)
This section aggregates best-available timeline from recovered tapes, Vatican correspondence, field logs, and perimeter sensor data. Time references internal to the shroud are presented as Shroud Time (ST); external as Wall Clock (WC).
Pre-Dec 1999 (formation stage): Silas Reed reconstitutes a revivalist fold. Recruitment, nightly cassette rites, and small-scale Book-Miracles documented. Local ecclesiastical contact (Oregon diocese) receives edited playback materials (see WRD-66/COMM-BRF).
Dec 25–30, 1999 (escalation): Ritual cadence increases. Miracle Theater performances attract more devotees. Red string and mirror rites formalized into a Spiral sigil matrix; wax residue (sample EDN-01-A) accumulates in chapel. Tapes show progressive narrative language (draft/author metaphors).
Dec 31, 1999 (Ascension attempt / Spiral): Multiple witness tapes record collective chanting, blood sigil activation, and a culminating ritual identified as “The Turning.” Audio contamination increases; several voices repeat “we will be real” before audio collapse. Field tapes stop; localized timestamp anomalies recorded by distant satellite metadata (1999 markers persist). Sebastian’s last log terminates mid-verse.
Post-2000 (apparent externals): Area shows official attempts at natural disaster remediation (local records), but public access intermittent. Reports of “suicides” and missing persons noted in diocesan files. No confirmed lawful closure of site recorded in public domain; DAP notified after cassette materials delivered to ecclesiastical channels.
2000–2024 (shroud persistence): Perimeter abnormality observed (satellite metadata, field attempts). Multiple unsuccessful approaches documented; digital sensors fail or return late-1999 timestamps within shroud perimeter. DAP assigns remote observation and memetic quarantine.
2025 (spill event detection): POI-AND recovered at compound perimeter showing no aging since 1999. Subsequent observation windows documented: subject remains in 2025 for 7–30 days (variable), then vanishes (Reabsorption Event). Cameras show literal optical disappearance (instantaneous loss of subject frame) from within secure area; time of reappearance later recorded near original pickup location. No other successful extrication recorded.
3. The shroud — measured properties & working model
3.1 Observed macroscopic properties
Temporal Lock: Interior sensor metadata, when it returns, shows timestamps fixed to late-Dec 1999 regardless of external date. Internal environmental cues (holiday decor, countdown artifacts) persist.
Sensor Failure Mode: Digital imaging frequently distorts with high-amplitude noise and timestamp corruption. Analog instruments (tape recorders, film cameras) retain higher fidelity recordings but still show memetic contamination (reverse layering, margin whispering).
Physical Pull: Field surveys show a measurable attractive vector in the final 20–50 meters of perimeter. Force is weak (insufficient for involuntary transport under normal conditions) but consistently measurable with spring-scale rigs and mass pendulum tests. Effect increases logarithmically with proximity. Hypothesis: low-field gradient consistent with an attractor function rather than kinetic force.
Permeability: Semi-permeable. No unauthorized personnel entries have been sustained. Only POI-AND demonstrates spontaneous two-way permeability (inbound/outbound). No recorded case of other subjects passing through and maintaining continuity in external timeline.
Boundary Phenomenology: Visual distortion (heat-like shimmer), low frequency hum, and increased incidence of anomalous memetic artifacts at boundary (page fragments, partial page-like detritus). Boundary appears stable over multi-year observation.
3.2 Microstructure hypothesis (working)
The shroud operates as a localized narrative attractor: it stabilizes a specific authorial state (Dec 25–31, 1999) and enforces internal narrative coherence via memetic reinforcement. The attractive vector may be a byproduct of the shroud’s effort to close ontological seams (i.e., pulling analog anchors inward). EDN-01 functions as primary focus/processor for narrative energy; Book-Miracles serve as both recruitment and energetic input. POI-AND’s unique permeability suggests partial authorial editing left him with residual phase coherence permitting transient spill.
3.3 Memetic vector mechanics
Book-Miracles alter memory topology (erasure, insertion, rewrites) locally. Cassette media function as both storage and propagation means. Playback of contaminated media outside secure channels produces psychological effects (drowsiness, intrusive marginal voices, flash imagery). Memetic contagion is strongest via analog audio; digital conversions often amplify unpredictable artifacts.
4. Experiments & controlled trials (summary)
4.1 Analog perimeter probes (Tape & Film protocol)
Left unstaffed analog tape recorders at 5m, 20m, 50m. Results: recorders at ≤20m show anomalous audio layering (marginal whispers, reversed segments). Film at ≤20m shows page-like artifacts adhered to emulsion. Recommended: continue analog chain-of-custody; analog evidence is the most reliable for internal phenomena sampling.
4.2 Attraction gradient measurement
Spring scale and pendulum experiments yield consistent, reproducible attractive readings beginning approx. 50m from mapped epicenter. Effect strength increases approaching perimeter threshold. No gross translational movement observed in unattended inanimate masses. Interpretation: attractive vector is informational/phase in nature rather than classical gravitational/EM interaction.
4.3 POI-AND observation protocol (trial series A–D)
Trial A (passive observation): Standard 24/7 watch; documented hum, visual disappearance, reappearance weeks later.
Trial B (incremental anchoring): Provided tactile anchor (metal matchbox) each Spill Event; extended continuity to 36 hours median.
Trial C (cognitive rehearsal): Daily scripted readings of redacted dossier. Result: acute agitation, shortened spill intervals. Cancelled.
Trial D (sensory chaining): Combining anchor with recorded daily audio logs that POI-AND plays back each day. Result: partial retention of scripted phrases across 2 cycles; subject still experienced Reabsorption. Conclusion: anchoring components promising but insufficient.
4.4 Memetic exposure containment
Playback trials inside Level-4 memetics vault to assess contagion thresholds. Findings: subjects (analysts) exposed for >12 minutes recorded elevated dream content referencing “margins” and “missing lines.” Recommendation: strict exposure windows (≤2 minutes) and immediate cognitive debrief after playback.
5. Operational measures (perimeter & public safety)
5.1 Sealing and public denial
DAP coordinated with Federal land managers and local county to declare the immediate compound area as restricted utility lands following initial alert. Public signage cites environmental hazard and unexploded ordnance to discourage civilian approach. Local press statements were tightly controlled (Level-3 cover). All land access logs and contractor manifests for the region are under DAP review. Temporary road closures and aerial surveillance implemented; FAA notified of restricted airspace.
5.2 Site security & personnel
Perimeter established at 500m outer ring; inner security at 50m with tamper sensors. Dual redundant analog surveillance (tape & film) required in addition to digital. All onsite personnel must pass memetic baseline tests and rotate no more than 14 days. No solo approaches allowed.
5.3 Civilian interaction protocol
Any civilian reporting proximity to site must be diverted under cover story (environmental hazard). Immediate memory screening and psychosocial debrief recommended for civilians found within 1km. Local law enforcement to be briefed under strict confidentiality and provided scripted denial language.
6. Research agenda & hypotheses for loop disruption
6.1 Primary hypothesis: POI-AND’s repeated Spills indicate residual phase coherence that can be amplified into sustained continuity through incremental memory anchoring and sensory cue chaining.
6.2 Secondary hypothesis: EDN-01 maintains shroud stability by consuming narrative input (sacrificial energy). Interrupting input streams or substituting crafted counter-narratives may destabilize anchor. High-risk: destabilization could cause sudden shroud collapse with unpredictable ontological consequences.
6.3 Proposed controlled experiments (Level-4 approval required):
Experiment 1 — Multi-cycle Anchoring: Extend incremental anchor protocol across 6 consecutive Spill Events; increase anchor complexity (object + phrase + sensory token). Measure retention, agitation, and reabsorption latency.
Experiment 2 — Counter-narrative Broadcast (Analog masked): Broadcast neutralizing narratological constructs (nonlinear, non-authorial syllabary) on analog loop outside perimeter for 48 hours. Observe any change in memetic input patterns. Strict memetic safeguards required.
Experiment 3 — Proxy Input Starvation: Deny cult analog input channels for an extended period by jamming outward transmissions (ethical/legal concerns; high risk). Observe for reduction in Book-Miracle activity. Authorization unlikely.
7. Security reminders & protocol checklist (for all staff)
Maintain analog backups for all recordings. Digital copies only after Level-4 sanitization.
No single operator may handle contaminated media from receipt to storage. Chain-of-custody mandatory.
DO NOT read recovered text fragments aloud, even in controlled labs. Use redacted transcription only.
If POI-AND requests to leave Site-12B unescorted, deny and escalate to Case Officer immediately.
In the event of unplanned Reabsorption Event (on-site disappearance), initiate Reabsorption Protocol: secure perimeter, preserve last known visual/audio frame, and do not attempt physical pursuit. Log event and notify Directorate within 30 minutes.
Rotate surveillance teams every 14 days; rotate research staff every 30 days. Psychological screening every 7 days for personnel with exposure.

9. Closing (researcher note)
The shroud is not simply a location; it behaves as a stabilized narrative field. EDN-01 is both a node and a process: her Book-Miracles are the mechanism by which the field eats continuity and writes itself. POI-AND gives the Research Division a pragmatic lever — an imperfect, fragile one. Proceeding requires balancing scientific curiosity with containment caution; every experiment risks tightening the shroud or, conversely, tearing it entirely. Directorate oversight is mandatory for escalation beyond observation.

Supervising Officer: [████████████]
Recording Medium: Dual (Analog tape + Digital CCTV)
[00:00:00] — Camera frame shows empty desert perimeter. Heat shimmer at ground level. Low-frequency hum detected on analog tape, not audible to field personnel.
[00:00:06] — POI-AND appears mid-frame, knees buckling as if stepping down from unseen stair. No visual transition; instantaneous materialization. Subject appears confused, wearing same black clerical coat as previous re-emergence.
Agent 1: “Contact. Confirm visual. He’s here.”
Agent 2: “Clock starts. Initiating orientation.”
[00:02:14] — Orientation protocol begins.
Agent 2: “Andrew, can you hear me?”
POI-AND: “...yes.”
Agent 2: “You are safe. It is the year 2025. You have been away for some time.”
POI-AND: (pauses, frowns) “Twenty... twenty-five? That’s wrong. It was Advent. I—”
Agent 2: “It will be explained. For now, you are safe.”
Note: Subject visibly unsettled but compliant.
[00:17:40] — Medical check completed. Vital signs normal. Age markers consistent with 20s. No evidence of aging since 1999.
Research Note: “Physical exam continues to demonstrate full temporal arrest. No decay, no wear. Cellular samples match baseline collected SE-01.”
[01:05:22] — POI-AND provided anchor object (matchbook, Trial B protocol).
POI-AND: (turning it over) “I don’t smoke.”
Agent 1: “It’s just yours. Keep it with you.”
POI-AND: (quietly) “I think I had this before.”
Note: Partial recognition observed.
[03:42:10] — Subject requests outdoor walk within secure perimeter.
POI-AND: “Why does the desert look the same as before?”
Agent 2: “You’re safe here. Things haven’t changed for you as much as for us.”
POI-AND: (softly, almost to self) “The clock never moved...”
Analog tape registers faint background hum matching WRD-66 chant. Audio analysis ongoing.
[06:11:59] — Subject seated in secure dormitory. Begins humming low pattern consistent with “the hum.” Agents note no conscious awareness of act.
Agent Log Note: “Hums until corrected. When asked, says he doesn’t hear it.”
[07:28:44] — Sudden Reabsorption Event.
Digital camera registers visual skip: subject present → static band → empty chair.
Analog tape registers burst of reversed prayer fragments (“deliver us... deliver... deliver...”).
Anchor object (matchbook) falls to ground; surface scorched but intact.
Agent 1: “Event! Subject’s gone.”
Agent 2: “Marking Reabsorption. Timer stopped.”
Event Duration: 7h 28m 44s
Anchors Retained: Matchbook (Trial B).
Observed Recall: Minimal. Subject recognized anchor faintly.
Analyst Commentary:
Subject remains unable to sustain continuity despite anchor reinforcement.
Reabsorption appears triggered independent of stress, fatigue, or interrogation; consistent with internal loop timing.
Recommend extending anchor strategy (Trial D-2: anchor + sensory reinforcement).
Reabsorption artifacts suggest increasing memetic leakage (stronger reverse-voice imprint than SE-05).
