DEPARTMENT OF ANOMALOUS PHENOMENA

CLEARANCE PROTOCOLS / TRAINING MANUAL — LYC-72 “Wolfman”
────────────────────────────────────────────
Classification: LEVEL 4 — CLASSIFIED
Distribution: Field Agents, Research Staff, Directorate Oversight

1) CLEARANCE LEVELS (Case-Specific)

  • Level 0 — Civilian: No access. Cover story: wild animal attacks / forestry hazard.

  • Level 2 — Confidential: Junior tech staff; access to sanitized reports only. Prohibited from listening to original cassette archive.

  • Level 3 — Controlled: Senior agents; may review sanitized audio transcripts. Entry to perimeter requires Counter-Intimacy Orientation.

  • Level 4 — Classified: Full research/ops staff cleared to handle cassette originals under shielded conditions. Access to sealed autopsy photos.

  • Level 5+ — Restricted: Directorate and Research Division only. Authority to approve/deny further experimentation.

2) TRAINING NOTES (Field Orientation)

  • Auditory Hazard: Entity uses perfect mimicry of human voices (especially close relations). Do not respond to any voice originating from outside line-of-sight.

  • Intimacy Exploitation: Lures are stronger against those with personal history (family, partners, teammates). Agents with recent bereavement or trauma must not be deployed.

  • Persistence: Entity has shown no aging across 50+ years. Weaknesses presumed folkloric (silver, moon cycle) have proven ineffective.

  • Mobility: Capable of upright and quadruped locomotion. Documented speeds exceed human pursuit capacity.

3) “DO NOT” LIST (Fieldwork Directives)

  • DO NOT travel alone in Hollow Sector under any circumstance. Minimum team size: 4.

  • DO NOT answer, follow, or acknowledge voices calling your name unless verified by line-of-sight and comms confirmation.

  • DO NOT bring personal recordings, family photos, or unshielded comm devices into active sector—entity may acquire voices by exposure.

  • DO NOT attempt conventional capture (snares, cages, tranquilizers, silver ordnance). Past attempts failed and resulted in fatalities.

  • DO NOT play original WLF-72 tapes in unsecured environments. Playback induces secondary anomalies (phantom whispers, static bleed).

4) MONSTER WEAKNESS — CURRENT THEORIES

  • Silver: Tested repeatedly, ineffective. Wounds closed rapidly.

  • Fire: No confirmed attempts; considered high-risk due to forest setting.

  • Ritual Severance: Theoretical—breaking emotional bonds may weaken lure. Never tested in field.

  • Projection Hypothesis: Dez-form may be memetic shell; target may not be physically killable.

  • Operational Weakness (Practical):

    • Entity is most active under cover of canopy and heavy fog.

    • Hesitates in open lighted spaces (highway CCTV captures brief stalling).

    • Approaches cameras deliberately before static disruption—possible compulsion exploitable for long-range study.

5) RECOMMENDED FIELD PRACTICES

  • Carry redundant lighting (floodlamps, flares) to exploit entity’s aversion to exposure.

  • Confirm all team movements using non-semantic comms (tones, beeps) to reduce mimicry risk.

  • Limit mission duration in Hollow Sector to <90 minutes; entity’s activity increases with prolonged presence.

  • Psychological debrief mandatory after all deployments.

6) FINAL NOTE (Orientation Excerpt)

“You will be tempted. It will sound like someone you trust. It may sound like someone you love. That is not them. That is the Hollow calling you closer. If you answer, you will not come back.”

Classification: LEVEL 4 — CLASSIFIED

DO NOT

  • DO NOT patrol alone. Minimum 4-person team.

  • DO NOT follow voices outside line-of-sight.

  • DO NOT acknowledge anyone calling your name unless verified over comms.

  • DO NOT carry family photos, personal tapes, or unshielded comm gear.

  • DO NOT attempt capture with snares, cages, tranquilizers, or silver.

KNOWN BEHAVIORS

  • Mimicry: Perfect replication of human voices, especially family/friends.

  • Mobility: Upright ↔ quadruped; speed exceeds human pursuit.

  • Persistence: No aging observed (Dez-form unchanged since 1972).

  • Lens Fixation: Approaches cameras before static corruption.

OPERATIONAL WEAKNESSES

  • Hesitates in open light; exploit with flares and floodlamps.

  • Lure power drops when team uses non-semantic comms (tones, beeps).

  • Exposure to original tapes = secondary anomaly. Use sanitized transcripts only.

REMEMBER

“If you hear someone you love in the Hollow — you are already compromised. Hold formation. Do not answer. Do not follow.”
